Interior Design With a Newlywed Budget in Mind

Ellecor Design Newlywed Interior Design

Ellecor Interior Design helps you craft the perfect home, from the living room and kitchen to the bathrooms and bedrooms. We want you to have the coziest and most inviting home you can imagine! In today’s blog from Ellecor Interior Design, we explain how to accomplish fantastic interior design with a newlywed budget in mind.

Rely on Your Commonalities

Both of you come from different backgrounds and have different senses of style. Before you commit to one interior design idea over another, both of you need to find common ground where you can start. What are your favorite colors? Do you enjoy quiet spaces or busy spaces? Are you modern types or vintage types? How about an open versus closed floor plan? Take a few moments to figure out what type of interior space appeals to you both.

Make Out a Budget

Build a budget based on your essentials. How much can you afford to spend on a washer and dryer? Will you need to purchase new furniture? Can you wait on certain items so you can save for them? A good budget will help you make a plan and achieve it over time by working together.

Let Go of Things You Don’t Need

If you are moving in together and combining your belongings, you might find you have double the clutter. You might end up with two coffeemakers, two sofas, and two dining room tables. If so, it’s time to downsize.

Moving into your newlywed home is a great time to have a yard sale or do some spring cleaning. You don’t have to bring everything from storage into your new home. If it’s been in storage this long, do you really need that old washing machine anyway? Starting a new life together might entail going out with the old and in with the new.

Dual-Purpose Furniture

Furniture manufacturers allow you to save space and save money at the same time with modern interior design. Do you want a bed and a couch? Futons are the way to go. Need storage for your bedding? A box bed and storage ottoman work wonders. A bookcase or chest of drawers can also serve as an entertainment center with a TV on it.

Shop Online

Rather than spending a ton of time driving around looking for the best bargains, shop for your items using a different approach. If you already know what you want, set up email or text alerts for your item. You’ll receive a message when the item changes in price. Once it fits your budget, order it for your home. Interior design doesn’t have to happen all at once. Watching your home design grow over time is one of the joys of being in a marriage with someone! Experience the growth of your relationship as your home fills up with cherished memories.
