Eco-Friendly Choices

Going green means more than just the color. It means making eco-friendly choices in your life. As you choose interior design elements for your home, think about wooden kitchen utensils, reclaimed wood shelving, towels made from organically grown cotton, or furniture made from sustainable materials.

Believe it or not, wallpaper is starting to make a comeback. You can redo an entire room with wallpaper or just spruce up some lonely corners along the moulding with wallpaper accents. Interior designers call it “Granny chic” because you’re making your room look like your grandmother’s house. We could all use some more of grandma’s style right now.

Go Global

Many stores tout global wares created by artisans and craftspeople in foreign countries. These stores proclaim that the artists were paid well for their work. Support people for their beautiful pieces by purchasing global decor, whether you prefer an alpaca wool blanket from South America or a lion sculpture handmade in Nigeria. Your choices are literally limitless for a global style in interior design.

The Tropics

We could all use a vacation. What better way to take a vacation in your imagination than by adding a touch of the tropics to your home? Consider adding seashells as decorations in many rooms, redoing your bathroom with a nautical or tropical fish theme, wicker furniture to your master bedroom, or maybe adding small palm trees in front of windows. You may not be able to travel to the tropics any time soon, but you can close your eyes and imagine tropical breezes coming off the ocean with this interior design option.
